Amp for Stereo??

Hey Guys,

Has anyone here ever mounted an Amplifer for your stereo system in the engine conpartment?? I've been told by some that it gets to hot and that the moisture would eventually damage the amp. Problem is that on my boat I really don't have an extra conpartment to mount the amp. I have plenty of space in my engine conpartment. Also it is not a marine amp; so if anyone here can let me know if they've done this and had any problems that would be alot of help.

Wow,

What a killer engine bay! I see no problem mounting power amp either port or starboard hull sides. You should get enough fresh air from bilge vents to keep cool. Ultimately a shielded vented compartment would be ideal... I just purchased a Clarion APX280M for my sub. My other 4 Polk speaks will be powered from the Sony head unit. I plan to mount in the same area, but I have built compartments for everything..

I've have these 3 amps and cap in my engine compartment, been there for 12 yrs and no problems, mind you it's a 35' express cruiser.

Looks like a lotta room, you have many options. Check out Kicker amps. They offer pretty good value for a couple hundred bucks.
