Hello all,
Working on a 70hp Evinrude no spark on any cylinder situation.
E70TLCEM
Troubleshooting I get no ohm reading between the brown wires coming off the stator.
Also get zero DVA voltage when cranking.
I pulled the flywheel but to remove the stator it looks like I'd have to remove the female (pin E) black/yellow wire from the connector leading to the power pack?
Do I have to buy the special tools?
This is an old heavily used but very clean motor with the original stator and timer.
Is there another way?
Any suggestions appreciated.
thanks
rob

Should I just cut the black/yellow wire and crimp in a bullet connector?

Those pins/sockets can be removed without special tools.... squared off punch faces, long nose pliers, hand made special tools if need be.

Cut only if you feel it's absolutely necessary... but when reconnecting, solder and use heat shrink tubing.

Thanks Joe,
I'll get that pin out then I'll check back and you can tell me how to get it back in?
