ok well thanks guys, sounds like there's really no preference in brand, as long as your keeping it clean.

I have a Amsoil guy right up the street from me, I think i"m gonna go with them, and a good quality filter, prolly also from Amsoil.

Yes it's a new used truck. 24,000 miles on her, and approaching the time I need to do an oil change. It's a Dodge, with the 5.7l Hemi. Gas.

I know of people who are afraid of the factory recommendation 0f 5W and switch to 10W30 or worse of all 20W50. Most wear comes during startup before the oil can freely circulate.

Yep... your right, there are many folks who still feel the need to run 10w40 in new cars... which is about the worst thing a person could do.

Even myself (with an automotive background) was a little concerned with Toyota's recommendation of a 0W20 in the 5.7L Tundra engine. But that's what I've been using for 19K miles and the motor never rattles when I start it... I change oil at 5K miles and it still looks great. After my warranty expires (if I keep it that long) I'll start changing it at 7500.

Amsoil is a good choice... I think it will work out fine for ya. I would ask your dealer if you can use the 0W20 in the Hemi. Some guys on the auto forums swear they get better gas mileage with it... which might be a good thing with that thirsty Hemi! :)

I noticed a very slight improvement in gas mileage with the 0W-20 in my Tundra. Not much but I'll take anything I can get.

Is yours a 5.7L? I've never ran anything but 0W20 in mine so I have nothing to compare it to.

Yes. I think mine was one of those that had convential oil from the factory. I changed it at 2k with 5W-20 convential then at 5K with Amsoil 0W-20.

Well, like one poster said, Amsoil is the best out there, period. All others are judged against it.

That being said, I run Amsoil in my scoot and Mobil 1 in my truck. They're all good, just change them regularly and these modern engines will outlast their owners! :D

0-20 or 5-20 will work on the hemi. I run 5-30 in my 04, but the newer (06+) MDS engines are supposed to run 20 weight i believe. I used to run amsoil, but got tired of being a distributor just to get it cheaper/easier. now walmart sells mobil1 cheap so i use that now. Amsoil was the best in tests that i read, but Mobil1 was ALWAYS almost next to it in comparison.
