Re: An Odd Sight
When I was in high school, I'd come home, grab the scattergun and head off to bust crow. One day I was walking along and saw a couple dozen crow flying just a little too high to bust. They seemed agitated, sqawking, flying back and forth, etc. It seems there was a hawk in the midst. I sat down and started watching what turned out to be one of the best shows nature has ever provided. Naturally, the hawk could outfly the crow. He was actually toying with them. He would dart back and forth taunting them. The crow fell for every move, but couldn't touch the hawk. This went on for 20-30 minutes. Eventually, the hawk must have got bored and simply kicked into OD, flew off and left the crow dumbfounded.
As long as I told you that story, the other show - runner up - involved a bluejay and my cat (at the time). The bluejay lured the cat to the top of a small tree and out on a small limb where the cat had issues hanging on and keeping his balance. Then the bluejay started harrassing him further knowing he had him where he wanted him. The bird would fly back and forth batting the cat who tried to take swings at him, but eventually the cat realized he was in deep kimchee. Again the bird must have got bored, showing who was master, and flew off.
