I'm finishing up outfitting my new Fish Hunter 360 and having never owned any type of boat before, was wondering if anyone had a preference as to the type (and size) of anchor to use? I'll most likely be in mostly sandy/muddy bottom ponds and lakes. I've read a lot but it's kind of hard to find information tailored towards inflatables.

Thanks for your help!

Shouldn't take much to hold that little rascal. I'd think just a small mushroom style would be fine. Cheap and easy to find and replace.

You may want to consider getting a 2nd small one. Though a single small anchor holds my Fish Hunter 360 in most conditions I face, often the boat swings back and forth significantly in a breeze, and a 2nd anchor, some distance on the bottom from the 1st, should take care of this. I am considering getting a 2nd small anchor myself, specifically for this reason.

+1 on the mushroom anchor. A few feet of ss chain will help keep it in the "hold" position in sand and mud, but I've done fine without it. The surfaces of mushroom anchors are all rounded and "friendly" to inflatable boats and bare feet. Avoid anchors with pointy tips.

I use either a 5 lb baby Danforth, or my 3 lb claw anchor. Since I freshwater fish mostly I don't use a chainlead on my little anchors. likilar brings up a good point though. Mushroom anchors are not pointy, which is my only worry with my claw anchor.

I have the same boat and bought the "Grapnel Anchor System" from Walmart. What I liked about it was that it
#1 it folds down and fits in a nice nylon bag and fits in the batt. holder pouch in the boat with room to spare. Folded down it is about 9" to 10" long.
#2 it is not sharp at all
#3 it has a nice "giant snap hook" that clips nicely on the oar holder rings.
#4 It has 25' of rope which is enough for me as I use my boat for rivers and creeks.

+1 CopperFox is right on a 2nd anchor would be smart to lock you into that perfect position. My brother and I constantly have to readjust the boat when the wind blows hard.
