I need a recommendation for an anchor for a Zodiac 470 RIB. I really don't intend to use it much, but probably should have one just in case.

This anchor will probably be Danforth style so that it can lie fairly flat in a compartment.

I just don't know how big (weight) it should be.

I usually boat on large rivers, inland lakes, and inlets on the Chesapeake Bay.

Thanks.

Re: anchor for RIB

Whatever anchor type you choose, use at least a 1.5 meter lenght 6-8 mm stainles steel chain betwenn anchor and rope for the anchor to lay properly at sea bottom.

Re: anchor for RIB

Hi

A folding grapnel anchor is often recommended for smaller RIB's as their design is less likely to mark or tear the tubes. A 5kg grapnel on 10ft of chain with 20ft of line should do the job for a 4.7m RIB

You should use an anchor model and weight that best secures you boat to a beach, lake, river bottom, not all anchors performs the same, if cautious can use any model on board.

Lewmar Claw - 1 kg anchor at Defender. Plenty of holding power

Lewmar Claw - 1 kg anchor at Defender. Plenty of holding power

Just saw that Defender got in a small claw anchor that would be perfect for small RIBs. Lots of holding power in a tiny anchor. Lewmar claims it will hold up to a 20' boat.

Selling them for $8.00 is what I am told. They had about 100 of them in the Store.
