My boat has an anchor locker on the bow. To drop the anchor I have to climb onto the bow, open the locker and manually drop the anchor overboard. Will an anchor line roller make this process easier? Do I need to get one from my boat manufacturer (SeaRay) or are the aftermarket units that will fit my bow? The few times I pulled up the anchor it came close to slamming into the hull.

Re: anchor line roller

RK - You could install one of those anchor roller and anchor holder. It holds the anchor steady, but allows it to be dropped at anytime. An aftermarket one should work. You may need to install a special cleat to keep the rode tight.

Keeping the anchor from slamming the hull is an operator problem. Unless you have a pulpit wiht an anchor roller, any wave action could canse the anchor to slam the hull.
