Anchor Wench Question

Actually I think it?s a Windlass style but I'm not sure. (Wraps the line around a pulley and drops it into a hole through to the Anchor Locker in the Bow)

I got it off EBay for 75 bucks but now that I have it I'm not sure who the manufacturer is. I posted the 3 pictures I have of it. The guy told me he wasn?t sure who made it but I thought I would be able to figure it out. There is hardly any writing on this thing and it?s not going to be easy to pull it apart to look for clues.

What I'm trying to find out is what kind of switch I need to install it and what gauge of wire.

I'd also love to find some operation instructions. I don't know if this thing even works. The pulley spins both ways with no power to it.

Are you suppose to still tie off an anchor cleat or maybe it?s broken???

There are only 2 wires one black and one red.

Any help would be great.

Thanks
Joe

Looks like a light duty horizontal windlass. Should not be able to turn without power, or one way only if it is afree fall type.

You are going to need to pin the chain somehow if it doesn't hold the chain.
i wouldn't install it until you are sure that its ok just mock it up at home for a test run

I think this type is for chain only see on the wheel there are ridges to hold the chain?

Get heavy gauge wire to the battery (same as the wire on the winch) make sure you get a fuse or breaker, and you can buy a foot switch for the deck and or a switch at the helm

Cant think of any good wench jokes so your lucky, just drawing a blank...
