Took my 1448 modified jon out yesterday. Motor didn't do badly just wants to run wide open, looks like I need to work on the carb a little more. Question is, I would find a spot I wanted to fish and the wind would drive me away after I shut the motor off, so what is the best way to achor? Wanting to know what kind of setup I need. I also tore the starter pawl up on the rope rewind so off to order more parts. Luckly the local NAPA has some parts. Thanks for the help.

Re: anchoring jon boat

If there's a strong wind or current, you always want to anchor from the bow. That kind of boat has a low freeboard and could swamp if anchored only from the side or stern.
Don't laugh- I've seen it done....

As far as anchor, it depends on the type of bottom where you boat. You'll need to have anchor line length of at least 10X the anchoring depth.
