Looking for advice for anchoring my 24' Grady off the beach The beach is on the ocean. Tomorrow is supposed to be very calm............however I am always worried (about everything). The beach faces south and tomorrow's wind is going to be coming out of thw NW @ ~5knts. The waves sre generally pretty calm at this location. The depth doesn't drop off to fast.

Should I use 2 anchors? BOw into the beach/wind with waves hitting the transom?

I would probably anchor pretty far off the beach and swim to shore. Or should I try to anchor with the bow facing the waves and use the stern anchor to hold the sterm to the beach?

Any/all suggestions welcome.

Re: Anchoring Off Beach

I was at the Ocean today by moriches inlet and there were still a LOT of good size breakers within 200 ft of shore and swells a LOT futher out

It would deffintely be BOW into the waves but i cant see it being safe less than 300' or more offshore

Agree on bow anchor. Always give the boat the opportunity to come about with a change in wind which usually causes a change in wave direction. And one thing about being on the water, regardless of what the weatherman says, you never know from which direction the wind will blow, nor how hard.
