What is the best way to anchor your boat rather than beaching? I have always beached my boats but have now spent enough money on a boat that I don't think I want to risk hitting rocks and sanding the hull. I have always seen people with their markers in the water just off of shore. How does this work? Also does this work in the wind? I spend most of my time at Powell and like most large lakes the wind can kick up some ocean like waves.

Thanks

Re: Anchoring

The way we do it is to drop an anchor on a bungee line off the bow about 25 yards off the beach and then have a line off the back that we pull the boat in with and tie it off to whatever is there. It works fine in the wind and wave. The key is to have the bungee line. It keeps the movement of the boat from pulling the anchor up and down which then moves it. This is us anchored. It is kind for hard to tell but the beach is only 5 or so feet off the transom. We used to beach our old boat and wore the gelcoat off. Not happening on this one.
