Can someone tell me how to buy an anchor? I have a 1976 21ft Grady White with a 200hp outboard. Pretty heavy little boat. How do I know which anchore size to buy, and the amount of line needed?
Gtashie<br />As far as length of nylon line you need to know how deep of water you will be anchoring in. Say 50 feet then you need 7 times that amount or 350 feet of line to anchore in a storm or strong currents. Can get by with 3 times the depth in calm weather. Anchore rated by either size of boat or pounds of pull. You should have at least 5 feet of chain, some will say chain length should match boat length but for me I use 5 feet and can anchore anywhere. Try West Marine on line catalog as they have lots of anchors and give size of boat or holding power. For your boat I would want a anchore for 700LB.
