Animal ambulances....how do you feel about them?

I saw on Animal Planet an animal rescue of a critical condition dog. The ambulance had lights, but they weren't on. Would you support an ambulance with full ambulance rights and right of ways for animals in need of critical care?

I guess the points to ponder would be:

*Do you move traffic out of the way for a critical patient thats an animal?

*Is it worth the small risk of life with a speeding ambulance?

*Are you willing to go out of your way to help that animal by moving your car to the side?

*Would your view change if you did/didn't have animals in your home?

*Is all life important to you, or just human life?

in Florida, the human ambulance must obey the speed limit, it only gets the privilege of right of way. i would have no problem with a pet resue ambulance.

how do you feel about someone shooting a Police Dog, and being charged as if shooting a human police officer? personally i'm all for it.

just human life?

Ayuh,........

I'll answer Your Question with a Question,...............

If you're driving down the road,+ an Animal runs out in front of you,.......

Do you Swerve, Risking the Lives of your Family in the car,.?..?..?
Or,......
Do you just run Over the critter..?.......?......?.

Personally,......... I'll feel Pity for the creature, but No remorse...............

Well, that's just it, in the ambulance you wouldn't know what kind of animal it was. As far as swerving, I will never risk my life for any animal. Its the species that I try to hit that's a different story! :D

Ayuh,........

Didn't know that til the response I see below that post,..........

I Guess WITF,+ I have something in Common,...........

I only Brake, or Swerve if I think the creature might possibly cause Too much damage to my hardware................

As for the original Question,.........
I feel that Sudden Lead Poisoning for the creature would be a much Better answer than risking the health,+ welfare of Humans with a high speed ambulance ride............

I love pets (well, most pets ... :D ) but to risk human life for an animal is wrong, IMO.

As for the animal that runs in front of me, I will break and swerve, if in the split second I have to react I deem it safe for my vehicle and occupants to do so, or that that move is safer than actually hitting the animal.

If the animal is hit, I will stop and render assistance, or humanly end the animal's suffering, whichever seems to be the most prudent. I do not like to see any animal suffer.

Hmmmmm.

I have crashed a car to avoid hitting a dog. I was alone. If I had had my family in the car I might have done differently, but there wasn't time to think about it. . .just react. I have also hit and killed dogs and a deer when there wasn't even time to react. I felt very bad about those critters.

I don't think I would have a problem giving way to an ambulance with a critical critter in it.

Do I value human life above that of other creatures? Yes, but I don't value human convenience above the lives of other mammals.

ambulances in my experience don't come along that often or cause that much inconvenience, so sure, why the heck not? if it was to become an every day thing, or funded by tax dollars, forget about it.

if one of my pets needed an ambulance, or an expensive operation......it'd be time for puppy island where every meal is chicken, and there's always plenty of toilets to drink from & dirty clothes to nap on............

My first working partner could spot a trip wire from up to 100 meters away. My last one had 26 finds in the search and rescue harness. Find me a human that can do that and I will say they are qualified to make the judgment.

I have found a greater percentage of animals that are worth saving than human beings.

Heck, I have to run over my own dog daily just to get around the house.

Really!
I would be fine with it as long as it was not endangering any traffic or people.
I would put my dog in an ambulance before i would some people i know.

Re: Animal ambulances....how do you feel about them?

Nope, I use my own transportation if needed. I know how long it takes to get an ambulance to my house with lights and sirens. Then to wait for an ambulance for my pet that can't use the sirens and lights to get there,,,,,,,,uh, I'll stay with my own transportation thank you. It would be much faster for me as the speeding fine would be cheaper than the cost of the ambulance anyway.

If those that would use it are worried about getting blood stains and body fluid in the seats of their BMW or Mercedes, then put a piece of plastic down covered with a blanket.

Well, i would get out of the way at the speed of light if the ambulance driver happens to be other than human, other than that twice the speed of sound would have to do.

Re: Animal ambulances....how do you feel about them?

I am sorry I know lots of people here love thier pets, but all this money spent on pets and all this BS makes me sick.

It is an animal. Period.

My pets get shots and regualr checkups, but anything beyond that, they will be put down. I did have to put a cast on the wifes dog cause the daughter stepped on it. 500 dollars is my limit, and the total cost on the broke leg was 350.

If one animal gets sick or too old, it is put down and we go find another one at the pound.

I would much rather take in another abandoned animal, rather than prolong the life of a sick animal.

I don't think ambulances should have lights and sirens at all. The extra speed made to the hospital (which is marginal at best) does the patient no good anyway. In fact it can be detrimental.

So, no. Pet ambulances shouldn't exist. It's a gimick.

I disagree with that.....
The lights & sirens make other vehicles aware so they can either stop or make way without causing another accident.....
You see some of the traffic on I-5 & I would not want to be waiting for emergency services to arrive or depart if I were bleeding out.....
I'd have to think getting a victim to the hospital ASAP has to have some bearing on their chance of survival....
Pet ambulances are fine as long as it is not on the public's dime, IMHO.....;)
