Since I now use windows 7, I'm getting an annoying pop up when my cursor is put on a word. It shows the word in spanish and its definition. It does it on all websites that I visit. Anyone know how I can disable this feature? I'm not even sure how it got turned on. I love my grandkids, but they just love to mess with their grandpa.....Thanks for any help that can help me get rid of this.........SS

This sounds like an addon thats on your browser.

Since you didn't mention the Browser.. I'm going to assume you have Internet explorer.

Click your "start button menu" In the search box at the bottom of the windows menu put in,

iexplore -extoff

This will run IE in safe mode. Now check to see if you have the same popups. If you dont, then you have an addon that is causing this. If not, then check your Add remove programs for any odd programs that may have been installed.

I sucks worse when your trying to read something that is now underneath the damn spanish.... that you can't get out of the way.

I found this explanation with google.
No, what you're seeing is a feature of Bing and/or Windows Live and/or Google toolbar.

I also found this.
A common cause for what you are experiencing is a toolbar/add-on that provides translation as a feature. You can test this by using Internet Explorer (No add-ons):

? Click Start

? Click All Programs

? Click Accessories

? Click System Tools

? Click Internet Explorer (No add-ons)

Does the same translation effect occur in No add-ons mode? If not then you just have to find which add-on was responsible.

? Click Tools

? Click Manage Add-ons

? Click Toolbars and Extensions

? Under Show: click All add-ons

? Click any add-on

? Press CTRL + A on your keyboard (this should select all add-ons)

? Click Disable all

? Click Close

? Close Internet Explorer (No add-ons)

? Open Internet Explorer

Now all add-ons are disabled in Internet Explorer, next step is to enable them one by one.

? Click Tools

? Click Manage Add-ons

? Click the first disabled add-on

? Click Enable

? Click Close

? Surf a few pages

? Close Internet Explorer

? Open Internet Explorer

Test to see if the translate feature is back. If not then the add-on you enabled is good to stay. Repeat the enabling process for the next disabled add-on and continue this process until the translations return. Then the last add-on will need to be disabled/uninstalled/updated/adjusted to prevent further problems.

Hey, I found the cure and it was easy. When the window pops up, there is a line at the bottom of the windo that says disable......DUH........I didn't really notice it because the background color and the print is almost identical shades of blue. I clicked on it and was able to disable the translation feature. My grandsons will be proud of me :D

Hi There..

IMHO, your best choice of solutions... is to download and install Firefox as your browser. It's very customizable... no pop-ups, an ad-on called ADBlock will keep all the crazy advertisements off your webpage, and FlashBlock will keep all the memory hogging flash movie advertisements off too !! It can't be beat. If you need any help, IM me.....

Very respectfully,

Steve
