Anode missing after day on the lake... need a new one. Compat. question...

I had a newer (~10months) anode fin on my Alpha One and it turned up missing after our boating trip today.

I am getting a newer performance prop and have a question about which one to get. I have thought about the smaller fin that is made for perf. prop applications, however I would like to avoid the potential problem altogether.... Would a newer style finless anode work with my Gen I Alpha One drive? Are they a direct replacement? I've heard about torque steer becoming a problem, but am I really in that much of a problem zone with a 3.0 Merc?

You will have a problem unless you have power steering.

...went down to the local SeaRay dealer where I usually get my Merc parts and they didn't have the performance prop anode fin OR the flat one. I asked about using the flat one and he said all new Merc's have the flat anode. Is this because all new Mercs have P/S or is he misinformed?

Broke down and bought a performance anode; glad I did because the regular style wouldn't have worked with my new Stiletto prop.
