I'm going to paint an aluminum portion of my console. Reading other posts on this forum, It appears that a zinc chromate primer is the primer of choice. This is what I've used in the past. However, when I checked a couple of auto parts and hardware stores - no sighting of the old familiar spray can with the flat yellow top and the "Zinc Chromate" lable.
Home Depot had two Rustoleum primers: One listed for steel, fibreglass and aluminum and the other as "self etching" and for aluminum. The one listed as "self etching" is shown on the Rustoleum site as containing zinc phospate.
What do you think about the Rustoleum "self etching" primer for my application?
Where else should I look for zinc chromate primer?
