Another Bait cast reel ?

I bought a Quantum bait cast combo this spring and it had a problem. when you cast it and then crank the anti-reverse doesn't work like the bail release isn't resetting. any ideas for a fix. I haven't taken it apart yet to see what makes it tick and I have only fished with it maybe 6 times so I don't think it is a dirt issue. or should I send it back to Zebco? right now it had a he@# of a backlash in it because I went to set the hook and forgot to hold the spool and I lost the fish

You talking open face bait caster I think with the level wind that the line goes thru onto the spool.<br /><br />Take the handle side apart and inside you will see a small metal piece that will go down over the gears of the spool. That metal piece sometimes will stick in the "up" position and not fall back down on the gears. Very close tolerance in there.<br />It can get bent just a tad and not work right.
