I'm keeping an eye out for an aluminum flats boat for my neighbor and ran across this beast for sale. 25 footer! Pretty cool. Not suitable for his needs but interesting nonetheless.

I have no idea what the original purpose of this tri-hull aluminum I/O boat was, but if I had a need, I'd be buying this one.

Anybody know what it is?

Excess D-Day landing craft?

There was one maker of aluminum tri-hulls, but I think it was more traditionally shaped than this one. But I haven't see pics of one upside down.

Maybe some kind of military river patrol boat?.....A V-8 jet drive in the back and she'd fly!!!

I wouldn't call that a tri-hull. The picture isn't real clear - is it really an I/O?

Looks like a Mercruiser keyhole or the result of 12 gauge shotgunning.

Man, a V-8 jet drive sounds awesome!

It's advertised as an I/O boat and that keyhole is there, so I suppose it is/was?

Found another pic. Tri-hull? Cathedral hull? Something else?

Yeah, it does look like that. Seller's ad says it's 100% aluminum though. And a 1964 model year.

AirSlot was a manufacturer specific style, Chrysler?, IDK, cant recall off hand. Cathedral might be accurate, or accurate enough.

I only mentioned it because it didnt look exactly like a tri-hull to me either......

Someone posted a similar aluminum hull (in Ohio maybe?) a while ago, but none that showed its hull shape as well as that sellers turtled pix does. I dont think it was as wide either, sorta narrow, IIRC....

Interesting though...

I would believe a Monark. Bow looks right.
They are relatively indestructable, bur it can be done.
