I was wanting a depth finder but upon pricing them I can get a fish finder for just about the same price. So I realize that in the $130 price range you aren't gonna get an amazing fish finder but if I can use it as a depth finder and ocassionally as a fish finder I am more than happy. So far I am between the hummingbird 525 and the lowrance x50 ds. Anybody got any input on either one. I am still in the process of studying fish finders and certain features of them so any help from the experienced members would be greatly appreciated. Also, so far I don't think it would matter but the water I run in is relatively shallow and very murky/muddy.

SONAR is SONAR, Jason.

There is no use for a depth-only device when you have a "fish finding" SONAR.

From what you say, I think you would be just as happy with an Eagle Cuda (128 or 168) for a lot less bux.

Remember you only get what you pay for that is why there is low end low dollar units and high end dollar units . Spend the extra money and get a midrange priced unit even if you need to save a little longer.

I like my lorance unit but my eagle is really nice also.
