Although I just purchased some black faced gauges I was wondering if black or white faced gauges were easier to see at night. Us gray haired folks need every advantage we can get in the eyesight department.

TCATTC, I understand what you're saying. But doesn't the gauges have back lighting for night time viewing. Seems most do. And if so, then whatever design you like will work... JMHO!

Maybe it's time to get checked for cataracts (ask me how I know that).

Could also (after cataracts removed  ) install some courtesy lights for the gauge panel as well.... :noidea:

I've never had white faced gauges, only black with red needles. Isn't red the (only?) color that doesn't give "persistence of vision" at night? I don't do much night-time piloting, but I think having white gauges would ruin my vision of the waters ahead. - Grandad

Thanks for the input. I believe I will stay with the black.
