Another ID Question

Hello all,

I am new here and I'll just about bet that this is the most asked newby question.

I bought an old Ouachita bass boat and it came with a 33hp? Johnson. At least that is what the cover has on it. Anyone have a clue as to what this one really is and what year it is? I found some info that said a RDSL-29 was a 40 hp, but that leaves out the E in the model #

Here are the numbers from the data plate on the mount. Model # RDSL-29E and Serial # J2775265. The number on the plug at the top of the motor
is J2383962.

I appreciate the help and expect I will be asking plenty of more questions before it is all said and done.

Hopefully I can return the favor.

Your engine is a 40 hp 1967 model..... 1967 RD-RDL-29

The E is just a subgroup. It's a 40.

Thanks for the responses.

I guess who ever owned this one before either broke or damaged the original and replaced it with what they could get. It works for me though guess it is time to order a manual now and get to work making it run.
