Since I am new to the boating world, I had a question regarding insurance.
I recently bought a small fishing boat (14-16 foot, 50hp merc OB,etc, etc) I went through my insurance company & now have the boat insured under my renters policy. But I have a few questions.
1st, what is covered under this (renters) policy? Is it just fire & theft, or do they also insure against 'on the water' accidents / damage? (or is this something I need to ask my agent?)
2nd, while the boat is in tow, it is covered under my vehicle insurance, yes?
Thanks for any help.
Brian

Good questions, TwoWatt.

Questions we all need to ask our insurance agents before we buy, because many items are optional and if we don't ask for them they don't include them.

I know that my boat/trailer IS covered by my truck insurance when towed. I don't have (not required) any other insurance my boat. Hope this helps.

To really find out what is covered, read through every inch of your policy terms, conditions, agreements and exclusions. If something is unclear, ask your agent to simplify the terminology. THis is the only way to really know what is covered by ins.
