I have a 1720 Action Craft Flats boat. I installed a 140 Suzuki four stroke last year. It had a 135 optimax which was a little under 100 lbs heavier. I have a manual 6in Setback jackplate on it now. I cannot seem to get the perfect setting for all applications. With the mercury it ran great and did not porpoise or vent at all with any load and that was without a jackplate. I am running very good with one or two people but I start porpoising at high speed with 3-4 people. Two trolling batteries in the front also. One in the back. I have tried lots of adjustments but cannot seem to stop porpoising with heavy loads with this motor. Is this a prop problem? It also seems that this motor has a lower AV plate than the merc did in relation to the hub. Anyone have experience with this? Also this boat has a pocket drive which kind of acts like more setback in relation to the pad. I am going today to play with it a little more, any help would be much appreciated.
