i just purchased a 50hp 4stroke for my 1983 lund mr. pike. the ventalation plate is even with the bottom of the transom when the trim is all the way down and the engine turns the max. 6500rpm's wot. when the boat is at rest the bottom mounting bolts are just below the water line. the bolts are sealed with 3m 5200. my question is this. should i remove the motor and seal the holes and raise the mounting bolts above the water line or just not worry about it and leave it as is? if the concensus is raise the mounting bolts what would be the best way to plug the holes below the water line on this alum. boat? 3m 5200 and wood plugs? thanx to all who respond in advance.
