Good day folks,

name is Mike and I from a small town is southwestern ontario. I am the proud new owner of a 14 foot Saturn Inflatable, it is only a couple of years old. I was was granted a small amount of cash from the accountant I report to :) , so I am off in search of a motor for the boat.

Have 2 kids - 16 and 11
and the wife

likely only 3 of us most of the time, manual and it says it will take up to a 40HP. I not sure I want something that big. I have to deflate the boat to transport, due to the 30 foot trailer I towing.

Anyway this place looks to have alot of info, have been lurking for a few weeks. Any advice is welcome

Thanks for the weight information. Do most people run short shaft motors on these boats?

If being a 4 stroker, 20 HP will be ideal, if being a 2 strokes you could grow up to a 30 HP, which weights same as a 4 St. 20 HP. Just inflate well sib to it's recommended working pressure.

A !5 HP 4 strokes weights same as a 20 HP, better go straight for the 20 HP...

As a fellow new person to this forum. Your math has me a little confused.
I have been looking at outboards for the last month or so and the weights you listed are for the current crop of 4 stroke engines and not 2 stroke.

If I follow your size structure.I believe you are saying a 2 stroke will be 1/2 the weight of a4 stroke.

Does anybody make new 2 stroke outboards?
Are 2 strokes smaller than 15hp even legal in the lower 48?

A 4 strokes usually weights around 10+ kilos compared to same 2 strokes brothers. A an example a 4 strokes 20 HP engine weights same as a 2 strokes 25/30 engine. 2 strokes are still manufactured new and sold in countries which has not banned these outboards. You can find 2 strokes Yamaha, Suzuki, Mariner, Mercury, Nissan, Tohatsu in the HP size you want.

If possible to get in your area, get a 2 strokes Tohatsu 30 HP horse, very nice performer and weight portable for your inflatable size...

Happy Boating

If it's that cold in April. When do you get to use your boat?
Or do you plan on taking your boat and light engine south with you to go boating/fishing?
