I have a 94 Mercury Tracker Pro Series I bought last fall and have not had in the water yet. Initially didn't have any alarm at all when I turned the key so checked the alarm and the purple wire was cut. Hooked the wire back up, then grounded the temp sensor against the block and the alarm sounded like it should. Emptied all the oil out of the tank and no alarm. I took the oil sensor out of the tank and grounded it -(the part of the sensor where you can see the metal connector)- against the tank, and the alarm did sound. Does anyone have any suggestions of why it doesn't sound on its own with an empty tank?? Also, is there an alarm that tells me if the oil pump is working or not??

If so then yes there is a rotational sensor on the oil pump. If it's anything else, no there is no sensor.

Good luck!
