Another Outdrive Question

i just picked up an old 18' 1972 Fiberform boat with a inline six and a mercruiser outdrive. I am an outboard guy and know nothing about IO's. Is this mercruiser outdrive an OK unit or is it something I will have a chit ton of problems with?

IO's require Preventive maintenance, but the drives are not a problem unless abused.

Kinda what I figured about the different drives, they aren't so much junk, just all in how you take care of them.......Thank you for pointing me in the right direction Don S.....

Ayuh,.... You should have an Early MC-1 drive,...

Like any other drive, it'll last til it breaks,....
