Another Rob project, possible head up butt moment?

Well folks had this old single axle dump truck and an old utility box kicking around for a few (8) years and three weeks ago I recieved some news about a project coming up that would require a winch truck.
So I decided to mate the two together (sold the dump box for $1500)



As can be seen need lots of metal work



this little winch just would not do it.



So we will try this one.



Always fun trying to shoe horn something this big in

Patching is almost done air tank relocated and winch and the drive motor fitted.



Working on the Hydraulic lines.





It should look great once it gets sand blasted and painted.

The middle pic looks like you stuck a huge baitcaster reel in there. It just fits, doesn't it?

OH bud you do not know how tight it was/is!! LOL

The frame of the utility box had 1/8th plates mounted horizontally both sides and right where the winch went, the plates were weld in side the frame rail on the top and outside on the bottom frame rail, winch would not fit, it took 6 attempts till finally I noticed now there is a 1/16 of an inch gap on each side.

Cool project Rob. I wish I had the skills to pull that kinda' stuff off ... of course, I have no clue as to what I'd do with a rig like that. But the idea is kinda' fun.

I used to love doing jobs like that, I spent 30 years making stuff to use around the mines.

What type of work will you be doing with that set up?

The truck is a heavy under ground cable pulling truck, for the project that we will be working on it will pull flexible inner duct into a large duct system.
Then we put fiber cable into each of the inner ducts with a fiber blower.
