Here is another sad example of how dangerous gaz fumes can be. This happenned after the owner spent two full years restoring his boat. This was their first time starting it after putting it back in the water. :(

N.S. yacht explodes at boat club; spark believed to have ignited fumes

HALIFAX (CP) - Two people were sent to hospital Thursday morning after a boat exploded at a Halifax yacht club.

It was believed a spark may have ignited gas fumes onboard the boat which was at the Armdale boat club, ATV News reported. The owner of the yacht was working on the vessel at the time of the incident. The blast was so powerful it shook homes in the area.

"I felt it, I only live up there," said one man, who came down to the waterfront.

"The whole floor just come up . . . it was terrible."

Roy Hollet of the Halifax fire department confirmed two people had been injured.

"Our crews responded to what was a boat explosion. Two people were injured," he said.

ATV reported it would be up to the coast guard to determine what had caused the explosion.
