Cleaned all grounds
Battery Voltage @ 12.71 volts

Red Stator with Adaptor Box.
Green/White to White Green 679 ohms

Trigger:
Purple 1190 ohms

Brown 1240 ohms

Switch Box Bias Test 2.0 volts.

I do not have a DVA but have a digital multimeter.

Any helps would be greatly appreciated

Unplug the black /yellow from the switchbox check spark reconnect then then unplug both yellow from voltage regulator crank and then test for spark and post results .

Re: Another Sport Jet 90 Spark Issue

Kend301 Thanx for the reply. I pulled the two yellows and no spark, reconnected them and pulled the black/yellow and no spark. I checked the coils and they have tape(?) holding the outter magnets together.

The voltage on the battery is 12.51 volts.

Any other thoughts?

Thanx in advance.....

Re: Another Sport Jet 90 Spark Issue

Hi Folks,

I have managed to find a set of good coils and installed them but still do not have spark.

Does anyone have a test prodedure for the switch box and rev limiter?

Also does anyone have a wiring diagram that shows how the ignition circut is suppose to be wired after an ugrade to the red stator?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

Re: Another Sport Jet 90 Spark Issue

Wiring for red stator is as follows , Green/white to Green/white of adaptor box , white green to white green of adapter box , Black from adapter box to ground , Blue from adapter box to blue from switchbox , tape off red stator wire from switchbox for old stator .

To do more advanced tests you will need a DVA adapter for your multimeter or one that can read DVA . Also please post what parts are new and what if any you have changed

Re: Another Sport Jet 90 Spark Issue

The only new parts are the coils. I borrowed a known set of good coils, tested them and they were between .03 and .04 ohms.

The stator was on the engine and has green/white and white/green leads. The adaptor box is as you stated and wiring is run as described.

I just ask for the modified wiring diagram as there is a brown lead coming out of the switch box that does not go anywhere and the black/yellow is connected to what looks like a previous owner wire disappearing into the loom.

I understand the grey is a tach lead that goes no where as there is no tach.

Is there any tests that I can run on the rev limiter?

Thanx in advance.

Re: Another Sport Jet 90 Spark Issue

Does the brown wire have a connector on it ? and is the boat oil injected ? Also if I am reading right the black/yellow is not hooked up to the switchbox ???
The brown wire out of the switchbox should be connected to the brown trigger wire

The brown wire has a bullet connector on it....
The engine is not oil injected. Fuel and oil mix....
The blk/yel fron the switchbox is hooked to another wire and the blk/yel in loom is not hooked up....

Thx for the help. How was the damage from Earl??

Re: Another Sport Jet 90 Spark Issue

Looks good to me , The only thing you left out is yellow to yellow wires from stator to voltage regulator .
BUT please be sure about the Brown to Gray trigger connection , it should be Brown to Brown unless you just have a color faded wire from the trigger .
The Gray wire in the engine harness is for the non existent tachometer on these boats.

Re: Another Sport Jet 90 Spark Issue

The trigger has the wires coming out of it just as described but the one wire may be faded to a gray color.

Based on the wiring being correct and the readings from the trigger and stator where do you think the fault is in the system for no spark. Is there any other tests I should run to verify which parts have failed? If not what should I order to get spark?

Thanx

Re: Another Sport Jet 90 Spark Issue

Take the battery to a auto parts store and have them load test it , in rare cases you will have good volts and no cranking amps to make the ignition work . Other than that , retest all the basics , you have a short hiding somewhere . Re Ohm stator , trigger , ohm stator wires to each other reading should be 0.6 to 1.1 .. rerun switchbox bias test

Thanx Kend301.

I'll get the batt tested and re-run all the tests. It will be a few days. I'll post back with the info soon.
