i have a sport jet 90 and would you guess it wont start. i pulled the flywheel and all the magnets were stuck to the stator. so i got a new flywheel and a new red stator. still no start no spark. so a switchbox later. when you turn the key it will crank over good but sounds like when its getting ready to fire it will stop and kinda sound like the battery is going dead . the battery is fine and it's a new starter, i put it on the same day we pulled the flywheel.

is it out of time? if you bump the key it almost starts but if you crank it no start and i think when it is going to start is when it starts snapping like the battery is dead. its the same red stator that it had before and i put it on like it said too and you can see that its clocked like the old one. do i need to re-clock it sounds like it's out of time. i dunno:facepalm:

help

Take out upper Spark plug

Put a pin ore somethinng in to the plug hole and feel when you turn the engine over FOR HAND !!! when the piston is in top. Du you have 0 on flywheel, where the timing mark is?.

If that?s okay check timing with lamp on no 1 cyl spark plug lead. 8-10 degrees on ideling.

If the flywheel-key is ok., not sheared. It can be as Ken says.

Check that on a spare part schematic. So you got the right one.

When you ready with that . And alll ok. . Disconnect the rew limiter and see if problem stop. Do you have spark on all spark plug if you ground them good and turn engine over?.

You put the trigger cables in right order ?.

Have you flooded the engine, ore how did the magnets got stucked?. Just wondering if it can be something else that can cause the problem.

speaking from experience . the wrong flywheel will make you pull your hair out and want to just sink the damn boat. it may look exactly the same but trust me it could be the wrong one. check and double check the numbers to make sure. i just went throught the same thing with my 120xr motor.

the numbers i got off it are 43 817409 i have no clue if it's the right one. i am leaning in the driection of its wrong or my starter is bad and does not have enough power to turn it when it wants to start. and yes i am ready to sink it lol

What year is it on the Engine?, ore can you see the OE number on the engine ( usually sits a tag on right side nearest the Manifo./head with engine and pump number)

Re: Another sport jet 90 that wont start go figure

ok went back to where i got the flywheel from. the guy tried to tell me it was the right one do for the heck of it i took some mar tec and glued the magnets back on the old flywheel and it started and runs fine. so now i now what the problem is.....so ill take the old one that i glued magnets back on and remove it and just find a good one that is the right one. i'm not going to risk further damage and just sit tight till i get a good flywheel. now i know wrong flywheel= pulling your hair out and a lot of swearing!

thanks to all that put in advice!!!!! you guys are great
