per the other message board i started the other day, i figured out what i needed to get for the tach, i found a plug from a boat junkyard for the motor control, the plug for the tach has 5 wires to it, the man at the boat yard told me i can use the purple wire for power, black for ground, and the grey wire of course is for the tach sending lead, if this info is correct i can finally get this hooked up, or do i need to run red wire to battery and black to ground of battery, or can i use the wires he mentioned from the plug, thanks again, blake

Everything you need for the tach is in the plug. No extra wires are needed. The purple is switched 12V (only has power when key is ON), grey is tach signal from motor (need to check if it is connected at motor end) and black is ground. The other wire is tan for a temp gauge and I can't remember off hand the last color wire.
