Another tach question

This tach was on a 150 6cyl merc, I have a 85horse evinrude. Will this tach work or do i need a new one

They both have 12 pole stators so it should work just fine.

Should be fine. The gray wire in your evinrude control box is the wire that sends the tach signal...... Some control boes have a small rubber plug where the tach connects.
