Another Used boat question

Howdy all,

I'm looking at purchasing a used 1985 25' Dusky center console forward cuddy, with twin SeaDrives. The owners states they are 140 V4's, but I can't find any serial or model numbers on or around the engines. It has a tower control box but is not hooked up yet. Under the engine cowelings I saw rust and grime. It has hydraulic steering and trim. Encluded in the sale is a three axle trailer.

I have walked the boat and poked it. I can't find any soft spots. All the wiring looks to be factory wired with no splicing or rigging done afterwards. Except maybe where a stero was added.

It could use a paint job but not a must have right now. I also checked it during a rainstorm where it was collecting water and all the rain seemed to be draining out the scupplers or transom drain area. Nothing leaking underneath.

The boat has been sitting on the trailer for a year or around that long. Sea testing can not be done.

The owner wanted 8200. on the for sale sign, but was down to 7000. after a few minutes of talking.

I am more or less looking at the boat guessing that I will be upgrading the motors to handle this heavy of a boat.

So is this a fair sale price? In the northwest FL area.
Any comments or suggestions would be a great help as this is the first boat of this size that I have looked at. All the others were bass boats from buddies and knew the history of the boats.

Many thanks.

Re: Another Used boat question

having sea drives, you're pulling it out of his driveway would be a favor to him. it was a decent system, but not longer supported with parts. hard to find, expensive. what it is, is a horizonally mounted outboard powerhead, on a out of date outdrive. without being able to test run it. i would consider touching it at any price. i would consider redoing the transom, and hanging an outboard on it.
