another year question

all i can find is serial # of 117803 can anyone tell me the year as i am having a hard time finding it online

If thats a Merc thats not a serial number. Look for a tag on the transom mounting bracket. If not there look for a welsh plug with it stamped in it.

Mercury serial #'s are 8, 12, 15, 17 #'s longer.

this is what i found i missed one # in the motor bracket should be 3117803 may be missing one number at the beginning but i can't read it as it is worn away

found one on the block #3369418

where else would i look?

That didn't work either. Look for a round plug with numbers on it. On my 150 it was on top of the motor. If you find some more numbers go the Mercurypartsexpress and put the number in. If it doesn't take it you know is no good and probably a part number. If you find a good one you can go to Maxrules.com and find the year. Good luck.

looks like that number is the first years they made that motor its was called an 1150
