I just love that show. I just watched the "Fun Run" episode and thought the guy with bloody nipple problem was hilarious.

Anyhow, can somebody tell me why there is a camera crew taping everything?? I must have missed something early that explained it.

I saw the middle of that episode and it was funny. The Office is always funny. It is a take-off of a Brittish show I think.

Why did that guy have bloody nipples?

The Office is literally the only sitcom I make time to see, it is just hilarious.

On the episode of the "Fun Run", did anyone else catch the gun Dwight used as the starting pistol? They were all lined up and he hauls out this .45 hand cannon and fires it in the air. They all flinched and then took off running. So funny....

The bloody nipples guy took all these elaborate measures to prevent chafing while jogging, but it did him no good and there was a shot of him running with 2 red spots on his shirt.

The camera crew is just part of the show to give it a live-action feel I think. The actors are clearly aware of their presence, although as far as I know it has never been addressed as far as why.

That show is great.

The bloody nipple thing was a parody of men who run marathons. If they don't lube them their shirt will rub them until they bleed (just one of many reason I will not run marathons). In this case it was just a 5K and he was paranoid about it. but ultimately they bled anyway.

When he came out of the bathroom wiht the nipple protection on it was a howler..

Yes, it was first a show on the BBC, same premise, different actors. It was funny as well. I think the camera's are sort of "reality show" like where they're being filmed all the time.

It was the same type of humor. It makes you uncomfortable to watch which is funny in a weird way.

I am addicted to The Office, the fun run episode was absolutely halarious especially the part where they spent most of the money they raised on the giant check and the "nurse." As far as I can remember they have never explained why they have cameras in the office. If you watch the english version it's very similar to the american version.

It is a funny show...I love it, however my wife hates it so she always departs if I turn it on.
It is based on the British version from a couple of years ago by a very funny Brit...can't remember his name (Ricky something) but I think he also is one of the producers of the US version.
If you want to see one of the British versions most of the funnier moments are on Youtube...again very funny stuff.

My wife hates it too. Mainly she hates the rapidly moving and jiggling camera. Makes her sea sick . . . Fat chance I'll ever get an ocean boat . . . :( I have to either watch it from DVR or the good news is it is very commonly on airplanes . . .

Yeah - the office... greatest show on TV today. I've seen all of them from the older British ones to the newer American ones. I guarantee that they have the greatest one-liners ever.

The show is considered a "mockumentary." The premise is that the camera crew is a crew doing a documentary on the traditional American Office. Which is the reason they have "talking heads" and why they occasionally address the camera in the show.

The original British version of the show was started by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. It fell on its face in the UK. Interestingly enough, it didn't become "popular" until it was playes on BBC America, which in turn won both of them Grammys.

They won the Grammys after the BBC version of the show was cancelled to the point that it could never get resurrected. If you are going to watch them, I won't spoil the ending. However, you will notice that the first season of the British office and American office are nearly identical.

As a result of the award, the show was picked up in America and has taken off like wildfire. The show has a cult following I would liken to the levels of Seinfeld - if Seinfeld could have been around during the era of the Internet.

Put it this way - they have a The Office Quotes game on NBC's website. What other show on television, since Seinfeld, has people memorizing lines from the show?

I think I know what you are referring to -- that clip is from his HBO Show Extras. If you get a kick out of the office, you'll enjoy Extras.

If you also go to youtube and search Ricky Gervais and Daniel Radcliffe, thats hilarious.
