Re: Answer question about 'The Office'
Yeah - the office... greatest show on TV today. I've seen all of them from the older British ones to the newer American ones. I guarantee that they have the greatest one-liners ever.
The show is considered a "mockumentary." The premise is that the camera crew is a crew doing a documentary on the traditional American Office. Which is the reason they have "talking heads" and why they occasionally address the camera in the show.
The original British version of the show was started by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. It fell on its face in the UK. Interestingly enough, it didn't become "popular" until it was playes on BBC America, which in turn won both of them Grammys.
They won the Grammys after the BBC version of the show was cancelled to the point that it could never get resurrected. If you are going to watch them, I won't spoil the ending. However, you will notice that the first season of the British office and American office are nearly identical.
As a result of the award, the show was picked up in America and has taken off like wildfire. The show has a cult following I would liken to the levels of Seinfeld - if Seinfeld could have been around during the era of the Internet.
Put it this way - they have a The Office Quotes game on NBC's website. What other show on television, since Seinfeld, has people memorizing lines from the show?
