Mercruiser 4.3L with Alpha drive.
Last week when we pulled the boat out of the water I noticed that a piece of the anti-cavitation plate was broken off (see pics). As suggested by this forum, I found a prop shop that can repair it. Its a small shop, so I have to remove the lower unit myself. The shop owner suggested that if it drives fine (which is seems to do) wait till the end of the season to bring it in. Any thoughts on whether it might be a problem to drive it like this for three more months? The alternative is to take it to a bigger shop and pay $100 more.
