Is there a special procedure for applying the anti-fouling paint to an aluminium hull? Does it require priming or special cleaning. My hull is brand new!!!Thanks in advance Todd

Each brand of paint is different. Just follow the manufacturers directions exactly as they are written.

Most antifouls are copper based paints. Copper and aluminum do not go well together. Interlux recommends a barrier coat between the hull and the antifoul. The best pain I've found for aluminum is Ceram-kote. It is a paint specificly designed for aluminum hulls and works great. It's kind of expensive but well worth it. Follow application instructions to the letter. I'll look up the number tomorrow at the shop for u and post it then.

hello
most antifouling paints contain cupurous oxide. really really bad stuff if it is on your aluminium. we use 5 coats of a special inter-protect primer on aluminium hulls before anti-fouling paint application.
contact the paint manufacture for specific instructions on your hull as most sales personell dont have a clue and eaten hulls wont be covered by any
warrenty if missaplied.
good luck and keep posting
