Anti-Fouling Wax work? Or just stick with paint?

I have a boat with a nice and clean bottom and I hate to paint it, but if I have too I will.

I see those bottom waxes like VS721 that seems to have some happy people, and others who say just stick with a paint.

Anyone actually use anti-fouling wax with success?

with all due respect..do you think over a million gallons of bottom paint was sold last year because there is such a thing as wax that will replace paint:D
Bottom paint depends on your use...keeping the boat in the water for more than 1 week=paint. splashing it only on weekends = wax. it also depends on what body of water its in..salt = paint / fresh, 50/50 depending on the mineral content and whats growing in the lake. go to US PAINT's website..everything you'll ever need to know.

If your gonna keep it in salt water for more than a week I would pull it out once a week and pressure wash. Like already said if it's just a dunk on the weekend just clean it when you pull it.

That is what I was expecting to hear, but I was hoping deep down the wax was actually decent. I boat in the long island sound and am planning on keeping it in the water this year. I've seen how the crud grows on painted bottoms, so I guess I don't have a choice. The long island sound is full of growth, so paint is probably my only option.

Yup
a good bottom job does alot more than stop algae growth, it also protects the hull from "blisters" where the water has penetrated the gel-coat and water gets trapped in the hull.i lived in Southampton for 22 years.every year our boat was hauled and painted. expensive but not compared to a new hull.

That's true, forgot about the blistering. I've seen some scary blistering in the past as well.

Anyone recommend a top notch bottom paint?
