I have recently aquired an old antique evinrude. I don't know what year model it is. I was wanting to know if there was anyone out there that could help me. The model number on it is 4378-04412.
The person that gave it to me, doesn't know what year it is also. He found it in a garage sale. tripplehornes@juno.com

Re: Antique Evinrude

Thanks alot Bear. That info helped alot. The motor was given to me and I haven't had a chance to check it out. I do know that it feels like the motor is froze up. I havent got to look into it yet. other than that, it is in real good shape for as old as it is.
Again, thanks alot.

Re: Antique Evinrude

Hi Fishandler,
Your motor is an Evinrude "Zephyr", unique for being the smallest four-cylinder outboard ever produced. They are quite common in old outboard circles, as Evinrude made thousands of them. Your serial number indicates that it is #4412 of the 1945-1946 run. They made them for a number of years, beginning before WWII, with progressive changes through the end of their run in in 1949. They're smooth running motors, due to the many cylinder design. New parts aren't common, but due to the number of motors built, used parts can be found with a minimum of hunting.
- Scott
