Well, most of you know my view on cell phones is very grim... (cell phones while driving anyway)

I'm at a point I no longer need my land-line phone service, and the Wife and I want to go to a cell phone. The price between land-line and cell is almost the same now.

I'm looking at a cell phone SHARED 'family plan'.
I have 2 teenage daughters...'nuff said!

A plan with unlimited night/weekend, mobil to mobil etc...

One of the phones would be used quite a bit, and the other would not.
At least one of the phones needs to be able to hook to my computer in case my wireless internet fails and I need to check e-mail etc...
I don't know if it would be cheaper to go with a family plan or two single plans.

As far as phones. I've read a lot of reviews.
I want a couple of phones that are durable.
I don't want any of those 'flip-top' styles either. They look too cheesy, and I can guarantee someone will leave the flip thingy open and sit on it or whatever.

I'm a little partial to Motorola and Nokia. They seem to have their stuff together when it comes to phones.

Any opinions (good and bad) please let me know.
All the offers I've looked at seem to be OK, but I would like to hear actual user-feedback.

Thanks,

H.

Have had good luck with sprint. Stay away from the Nokia 6350, it is junk. That is what I have and hate it.

I'm on the basic Verizon plan.

2 phones, no special features. Good overall connection. Able to call home from about 6 miles out on the ocean. Enough hours that I don't even use. Free weekend Long distance (Nice when your family lives on the other side of the country).

$60. No complaints

Verizon had some great deals, but unfortunately they don't offer their service where I live :(

Figures...It's probably someone in the state capital not making enough money off of it!

H.

If you already have mobile phone service and know you are going to quit anyway, call up and cancel you plan. I did and they sent me to their "Disconnect sales center" where they offered me a smokin plan. This plan is only available to people who are leaving their service.

They gave me a shared plan with two phones, 900 anytime minutes, 3000 night and weekend, unlimited calls between phones, and unlimited calls to my home phone, plus domestic LD. All for $49.95

It's worth a try..

I've had pretty good luck with sprint as far as the service goes. However, if you ever go over or are even close to going over, they will try to rip you off. I have went over a few times and they like to charge some of your night and weekend minutes against your daytime minutes. So far they have tried to steal something like $50-$60 dollars from me alltogether. They owe me money as we speak. I've actually thought about sending them a bill for "accounting fees" LOL. I had one woman tell me that their computers didn't make mistakes and that she wasn't gonna credit my account for the overcharge. Needless to say, THEY DID!! Good luck.

James
