Any Experience with Dean Tires

I am about to put a new set of Dean Wildcat SLT tires on my Expedition with 162K on it. I am not looking for top of the line tires as this is my daily 'to the bus stop' driver and not our primary vehicle. Just something with decent traction and water handling ability.

After dropping $900 for a set of Michelins earlier this year on my suburban, I need to go cheaper on these..

These Dean tires are made by Cooper and sold (in my area) through Fleet Farm and have a 60K warranty.

At this point I am thinking that just about anything can beat the Yokohama Geolandars that I currently have. they have less that 30K on them, are almost bare and are the most noisy unbalanceable tires I have ever seen. They were crap.

I would normally check the ratings on the various tire sites, but I can't find any on these. I have heard good things about Cooper though.

Re: Any Experience with Dean Tires

My auto body shop guy, who also began selling tires a few years ago has Dean tires, I believe they're made by Cooper, and a Good tire! Cooper also makes, El Dorado truck tires, Mastercraft, Cordovan, Mirada, and a few other names I can't even remember, but they're all good, just different price ranges for different sizes, & applications. They don't have the size Dean, or El Dorado, I need for my small SUV, although he likes them, and wanted me to get them because of good customers reviews, he even has them on his own 2Dodge trucks. I had bought Cordovan tires from him, (instead of the Coopers, last time because I just happened to like the tread design) in 215/65/16" and they were better, and lasted longer then the orig. equip. BFGoodrich Traction T/A's, it so happens, last thursday I just bought another set of New design Cooper CS4 A/S touring tires, to replace the worn out Cordovans. I'm very happy with them, these are one of the highest rated new style tires, and they now have a *45day free trial* and a 780 UTOG tread wear rating 12/32" of tread! take a look:

I have ran coopers on many cars and trucks and very happy with them. I was disappointed when I couldn't get a cooper tire for my new truck (18" rim). I have always felt cooper gave you a great tire for the money. If the tires are similar to the cooper discover ht they should last 60k and have good traction. Fleet farm's deal seem reasonable, if you want Coopers or to price shop try Venburg Tire in Maplewood on 61. They took good care of me on a set of trailer tires. (cooper)

At that time they didn't have a 18" tire for my 1/2 ton truck, just the heavy duty and mud tires. They very well may have more choices now.

I'll go ahead and give them a shot.. They can't be any worse than what I had on there before. I went from Bridgestone Dueller HL's which I got more that 65k on, which were great, to these pieces of crap Yoko's.

Fleet Farm just had a coupon in the paper for $25 off a set of four and the tires themsleves go for just a little over a $100 a piece.
