Any Guess on What Unit this Was?

Long shot here but...just bought a repo bowrider. There is a bracket that looked like it held a GPS or Fish finder. Any way to tell what unit it might have been? Two cords..one marked P and one marked T. (power and transducer?) See attached pics.

If I buy a new fishfinder would I be able to use these cords so I dont have to run new ones? Splice them perhaps?

I am a newbie so apologies if this is an inane question.

Thanks.unit 1.jpgunit.jpg

Yes you can splice off the power and ground wire but you'd probably be better off re-wiring youre new one so you know it's a good connection.

You'd have to have a compatible sonar to reuse that transducer wire and that is IF the transducer on the boat is still attached and operational. I can't tell you what model that will fit but I can tell you that is not the plugs Lowrance uses on their newer (early 2000s and up) units.

I would not reuse the old transducer, chances are it isn't good nor will it fit your new model. The transducer is the weak link in fishfinders, normally the first thing to go bad. Each year the newer models have a lot of upgrades over the previous models so pick out the one you want and go all new so you won't have any issues. My two cents worth anyhow.......

Nothing wrong w the question.... The answer however is a very polite "who cares just toss it" :) Your new unit will come with a power cord, a bracket, and a transducer..... they aren't worth a penny... just toss the cords in the garbage and take the bracket with you shopping... IF you can locate a new unit that uses the same mounting pattern then you won't have to drill any new holes and if you can't you can at least make sure the new bracket will hide the old holes.

Can't argue with a word of this advise. Buy what you need and hope the new bracket covers the old holes. Go big? You won't regret it. :joyous:
