Any idea of the value of a 1969 4HP Evinrude 4906B?

Hi everybody, A friends 14 year old son aquired an old 4HP evinrude 4906B which he is hoping to fix up and sell. I was asked if I knew what the value of the engine was so he would know if it was worth it for him to put the cost into the parts. I am really not sure what the market value would be on one of these, and I was hoping to get a little more information from some of the people here. I haven't seen the engine, but as far as I know it needs a carb kit and is missing the high speed needle and needs some hoses. Any information would be helpful. Thanks for your help

Depends on overall condition and where your market is. In my area a clean 45-year old 4hp might draw $200-$300 with a tank and hose, and demonstrated to run well, with new water pump, hoses, etc. I've seen them listed on Craigslist for more, but they stay there a LONG time...

The other day I came across a older 6hp Evinrude on CL that someone was trying to sell. They were asking $1000.00 for it. I almost fell out of my chair! Was supposed to be low hours and all original. Was a nice looking engine but not $1000.00 nice.
