Any ideas on boat dock ceiling ideas to hold boat cover up out of the way.

I have a covered single slip dock with a gable roof. I have a cover for my 25-ft pontoon boat that has 40 snaps on it and it goes over the bimini top. I usually take it off and throw it up on the shore and put a coupl of patio brick on it, but my zoysia grass stick all over it and its a mess.

Has anyone every rigged up something that would hook on the ceiling of the boat dock, like some pulleys with hooks?, that I could pop the snaps hook up the cover and raise it up to the ceiling?

Sure you could make a frame with snaps on it to raise and lower

If you have the storage of the 'toon, roll or fold it up and stick it under a seat.

Nice idea.

I was looking at this to rig something up with: http://www.amazon.com/Racor-PHL-1R-HeavyLift-4-Foot-Cable-Lifted/dp/B0009I8AO6

Dock guy originally recommending netting for tubes, floats etc... only thing I regret is no storage shed.

Don't want to store it in the boat, it is heavy duck canvas so it takes up tons of room unless I store it in the back of the boat when no one wants to tube. We also seem to live in the "geese" capital of the world , so messes are not uncommon.

Another nice idea would be a dock box at your dock.

Robby, you have my attention.
I've been toying with this for a couple of years. I have the same setup.
I don't want to mess with taking heavy boat cover on and off, but the boat's a mess (bugs/spiders, birds) if we don't cover it. I want to design some pulleys/cables that raise and lower the cover all around the boat....to keep it clean, but also to keep the sun off it. The morning sun cooks the lower unit and transom below the cover.
I'll be watching for responses.

Tregs.

Found this...Pricey, but cool.
http://www.touchlesscover.com/index.php

I asked my boat dock guy and he says they are around $4K.

He is going to see if he can come up with a plan to weld some thin overhead pieces of steel that he can weld to the existing overhead framing members of the dock, that would be enough to lay the cover over it. Still have to hassle with all the snaps, but atleast it would be out of the way and still easily accessible.
And he said he would do it just for price of materials. :)

very cool link. I think the structure would be easy enough to build and hang, but buying that much material and fitting it will be the expensive/difficult part. I thought about using tarps rather than material, but it wouldn't look nearly as nice as the one on your link.
