My 55hp johnson just isn't cutting it powerwise on my boat. I've found a well maintained early 90's Oil injected 3 cylinder 90hp yamaha for a great price locally. I was just wondering if there are any known issues with these engines and how reliable the oil injection system is. I know I've had great luck with my Yamaha snowmobiles and atv's in the past.

The Yamaha 90s have a great reputation and lots of happy owners.

A plus: They are smaller and lighter than other 90s.

A minus: They are only 70 cubic inches so the torque is less than the big, 105ci JohnnyRudes 90s.

With the right prop and rigging the difference is not easily noticable.

Sounds like a great engine for a Lund 16'.

A mate has a 16ft Haines Signature with a '93 90hp Yam. He's done over 2400 hours and she's still going like a bullet. Good luck.
