Any OMC guys out there?

Hi all,<br />Periodically rebuilding a 1984 Evinrude 70Hp. Had a bit of trouble with idling/transition to power, so Ive taken off carbs for another clean (properly this time ), and now I cant remember exactly how you would set the idle mixture on these carbs?! The screw above the inlet has a sealing washer, so I pressume it has to be fully shut, but do you have to take it out every time to get to the idle jet adjust... then again, is this where the adjustment is anyway? <br />Thanks in advance,<br />Mitch

Hi Aus1<br />Your model should be equipt with idle air bleed orifices. They are not adjustable as such.

Thanks alcan,<br />I have two sets of carbs - the 70Hp ones on my engine and 60Hp ones from a 1988 Johnson that I picked up in pieces for parts. The 60Hp carbs have small circular wire meshs on either side of the carbs - is that what you mean? My 70Hp ones dont have that. There are only 3 screws on the whole carb - bowl drain plug, one plug with o-ring seal on an angle on crank side of carb, and a longish bolt with washer seal as explained before - if that was the adjustment for air bleed/ richness, then it would rattle out of place with use - no spring...????<br />Are you saying that there shouldnt be any way of setting idle mixture?
