cant get an answer in merc forum please dont move to merc forum have a 68 6hp that runs great for 20 min the goes to an idle let sit for 10 min then repeat 20 good then idle lot more knowledge in here then there appreciate your time thanks paul

sounds like a coil failing when warmed up. going back to Merc Forum, because that is where it belongs. not in the J/E forum.

spark plug wire goes up under fly wheel is there a coil there im good at bigger motors perfer john/rude

Hey Junior....Do a parts search using your serial on iboats. There will be a pic of the coil. Compare the pic to your coil. If you cant find it looking at your motor it is probably under ther flywheel. These guys are very reluctant to give answers to easy questions covered by a repair/service manual.
