Just wondering. It has a Merc 5.0/305 carb. engine, which seems a bit small to me. And I havn't heard much about Glastron and their rep.

Re: Any opinions on Glastron GS 249?

I've got that engine in a Glastron GX205. It does fine for it. The GS249 might be a bit too big a hull for it unless you want to just cruise around with a light load.

As to Glastron rep, I've been very pleased with ours. After a little over 1 yr of owning it, have had no problems except 1 toggle switch went bad and dealer mailed me a replacedment under warranty (dealer is 2+ hr drive for me through Atlanta). I replaced switch and mailed it back. To me, its been an excellent boat for what we could afford. If I had money, I might've went with higher cost boat but I couldn't. Then, I drive a Dodge instead of a Hummer also.

Can't help you with your power question, but we just purchased a Glastron 195sx this past month and it is a very well built boat for the money. The hull has lifetime warranty and the research I did on Glastron came back very postive in terms of there overall customer service and product.
