My Poliglow kit is on the way to finish my 97 VIP 19', Mercruiser 3.0lx/alpha one project. I will have a barn to work in that will be out of the wind and I will have it as clean as possible before I begin to eliminate dust.

Anybody have any tips/tricks when using poliglow?

Thanks,

Jay

I don't know anything about poliglow but I know a little about this type of painting. Even after cleaning the barn you are going to have a dust issue. You can cheaply and easily take care of it by building a paint booth. It sounds much harder than it is. You can buy 1/2 inch or so pvc piping rather cheaply and 4 elbow pieces and needed connector pieces. You are putting this all together to build a large rectangle that it approximately 6 feet longer and wider than you need. If you want more stability or fear that you make have some breezes you can add another rectangle for the floor and even use corner pieces. Use some rope to hang one frame from the ceiling about 4 feet above your head or more if you want more air space. The second rectangle can go on the floor with side pipes coming up the corners if you choose. Take cheap plastic drop cloths to form your sides attaching with duct tape to the pvc poles. Drape drop cloths over the top after you are finished to keep any dust from falling on your work. Make sure you wear an appropriate respirator and don't stay in the enclosure for more than a few hours at a time. Also, don't forget to leave one of the cloths unattached in one corner at the side and bottom so you can get in and out, it would be best if that cloth overlapped the next as it will not be attached on the bottom. Also, don't use is open flame will be present. Hope this helps.

Ooops, one more thing as a safety precaution use duct tape to make a large "X" on the piece that is not attached in case you need to get out fast. Some people take an egg timer in with them and set it for one hour so they have to change focus and can get some air before beginning again.
